About deTour – 2018 TRIAL & ERROR 

Officially launched in 2008, deTour as an important concurrent event of the Business of Design Week (BoDW), deTour is now curated and organised by PMQ, a creative hub located in the heart of Hong Kong. The tenth edition of deTour will explore the theme, Trial and Error, contemplating one’s creation process before achieving the best results.

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Recollecting those excellent creative works in history, we can see that they were not only defined by the creators’ aesthetic sense, but also the ability of persevering their vision, knowing what people want and uplifting our needs, which are all important elements under the umbrella of design thinking.

Through exhibitions, installations, workshops and design talks, we are keen to unearth and demonstrate innovative experimentation, original thinking and invite general public to join them in discussing what makes a good design.

5 Senses Market

The five human senses are the sense of Sight, Hearing, Touch, Smell and Taste. These five human senses play a unique role by receiving signal information from the environment through the sense organs and relaying it to the human brain for interpretation. These senses are major elements for creating designs.

Cooperating with deTour, we have invited 15 artisans of these 5 senses to participate into the 2 weeks market. It gave a strong impact to the visitor and 640 visitors have voted for their favor sense discovered in the market too.
